As the year comes to an end, we wanted to say a special great big koala thanks to our less-furry friends for all your support!
We also wanted to show you the following video we made about our adventures in recent years. We’re a bit unusual in our love of adventure given that our real-live koala cousins in Australia don’t like to venture far from their favourite eucalypt tree (since it’s the only food they eat!).
We hope the clip brings back some happy memories and puts a smile on your face. Read more
The SAS Administrator’s role is at times cherished and other times admired, forgotten, loathed or even ignored – sometimes all in the course of a single day!
However, there is one thing that remains constant: the success of SAS Analytics relies on how well the platform hums along.
If there are issues with, for instance – performance, tuning, connection, or security; everyone will want to know you. Some SAS administrators have likened the role to that of a cleaner. You’re at the front of everyone’s minds when there’s a mess to be cleaned up, but not given much thought when things are spotless the rest of the time. As SAS analytics expert, Gerhard Svolba, outlines in his blog post, A data scientist, does not make a machine learning model – it’s a team effort.
So, let’s be grateful to all the SAS admins out there – when our SAS analytics platform (services, servers, networks, and databases etc) stop working, the SAS admins certainly don’t! Read more
Over four weeks we travelled to seven countries, sponsored six SAS Forums and user conferences, attended a SAS Business Forum, and visited the SAS office in Dublin. We enjoyed every minute of it! We loved being part of the SAS ecosystem of customers, partners and employees, and embracing all the learning, sharing and inspiration. There were a few times when we wished we had our very own real time translator; however, even when we didn’t fully understand the language, the stories of analytics success were still loud and clear.
Inspiration and creativity
Our journey gave us the opportunity to hear many inspirational speakers share their thought leadership and experiences using SAS software to solve business challenges.
A particularly thought-provoking presentation for us was by Martha Rehnberg from Dare Disrupt at the SAS Business Forum Oslo. Read more
Well, it certainly lived up to our expectations. Every moment was extraordinary; particularly the time spent connecting with customers, partners, supporters, and friends.
It was such a pleasure to cross paths with so many wonderful people – whether in person, on Twitter, at the Metacoda stand, in the hallways (or streets), via networking sessions, or at the magnificent Kick Back Party.
We hope you and your new “true blue” Metacoda koalas had an un”bear”lievable time too! Make sure you check out the photos in our Metacoda in Denver Facebook album and please tag yourself!
We kicked off our SASGF experience with the SAS Partner Forum where the largest crowd of partner representatives (520 partners!) heard from SAS experts, executives, and industry thought leaders. We learned all about the latest on technology, product updates, and how to maximize the benefits of SAS partnership. It certainly set the scene for the insights, brilliance, and experiences to follow… Read more
Metacoda is excited to once again be a SAS Global Forum (SASGF) sponsor (our seventh consecutive year!) And with a conference theme of Inspire the Extraordinary, it’s guaranteed to be an exceptional time!
Last year Charyn Faenza from First National Bank, and I, presented SAS Metadata Security 301: Auditing your SAS Environment, where we described security as a journey rather than a destination. We showed how Metacoda software can help you regularly review environments, protect resources, comply with security auditing requirements, and quickly and easily answer the question ‘who has access to what?’.
So where are you in your SAS platform security journey? How do you make sure your data assets are protected to meet regulatory and business compliance? If you’re going to SASGF, make sure you visit the Metacoda stand in The Quad to learn how we can help you keep your SAS platform secure. While you’re there, make sure you grab one of our true blue Metacoda koalas.
Or, if you’re not going to SASGF, feel free to contact us any time – we’re always keen to help our fellow SAS users!
It’s us – the Metacoda koalas back again full of effervescence, enthusiasm, and excitement for the year ahead – 2018!
We hope your festive season was as relaxing and fun as ours. For us, it was the perfect opportunity to catch up on sleep (we koalas need 20 hours sleep per day, you know?!) and to reflect on the amazing year just past.
2017 was definitely overflowing with magical moments, and we have managed to narrow it down to a short list of highlights to share with you below.
Of course, the next step is to create even more marvellous Metacoda koala memories with you in the year ahead… Read more
As 2017 ends and the festive season approaches we want to wish peace, joy and love to you and your families. We hope your 2017 reflection is one of success and happiness.
In thinking about the year – and the 10 years Metacoda has been operating – Paul and I feel very humbled to reflect on the benefits our customers have shared with us, and our contribution to the SAS community. In gives us great joy to contemplate where we were 11 years ago – brainstorming the plug-ins and tools – to where we are today. We’d like to thank our team, customers, partners, and friends for your support and alliance, and we look forward to continuing the Metacoda journey together in 2018.
As Colonel Chris Hadfield said at SAS Global Forum in April, “Love every step along the way. Life is not about your grand mission statements, it’s about what you do next”…
